What are Atenolol/Chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg Tablets used for?
Atenolol/Chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg coated tablets are used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). They contain two different medicines: atenolol and chlorthalidone. These medicines work together to lower blood pressure.
Do not take Atenolol/Chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg coated tablets:
• If you are allergic to atenolol, chlorthalidone, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you suffer from any of the following heart problems:
o Uncontrolled heart failure (this usually makes you breathless and causes your ankles to swell)
o Second- or third-degree heart block (a condition that can be treated with a pacemaker)
o Very slow or irregular heartbeat, very low blood pressure, or very poor circulation
• If you have kidney problems
• If you have a tumor called a pheochromocytoma that has not been treated
• If you have been told that you have higher than normal acid levels in your blood (metabolic acidosis)
• If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
Warnings and Precautions:
If you have asthma, wheezing, or other similar breathing problems, or if you have had allergic reactions, such as to insect stings. If you have ever had asthma or wheezing, do not take this medicine without consulting your doctor first.
Possible side effects:
Like all medicines, atenolol/chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Allergic reactions
If you have an allergic reaction, consult a doctor immediately. Signs may include raised bumps on your skin (hives) or swelling of your face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat.
How to take Atenolol/Chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg Coated Tablets:
Swallow the atenolol/chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg coated tablets with a drink of water.

The recommended dose for adults is one tablet every day.
How to store Atenolol/Chlorthalidone 100 mg/25 mg Coated Tablets:
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Your medicine can harm them.
• Do not use your tablets after the expiry date printed on the blister strip and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
• Do not store above 25°C. Store your tablet envelopes in the original package. Keep the blister pack in the carton. This will protect your medicine from light and moisture.
